Sofia Wicks (b. 1998) is a Colombian-American painter from Texas, currently based in Barcelona, where she works from her studio in Poble Sec.  Sofia studied at the Barcelona Academy of Art, where she now teaches.  

Sofia's work is rooted in figuration, drawing from painters such as Sorolla, Bacon, Freud, and Sargent, while exploring a contemporary visual language.  Through the use of color and subtle surreal elements, she creates images that feel diaristic and personal, grounded in her inner world. The paintings are often vulnerable, using the figure as a way to reflect moments of tension, intimacy, and self-perception.
